looking for something to do this weekend?

I came across this terrific website for all things happening in Massachusetts.

http://www.massvacation.com/

It's the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT) website and it's the place to find out what's going on throughout the state.  You can filter the events by region, type and city/town.   It's a wonderful resource for finding out what's happening around the state.  While I was playing around with the filter options I came across an Open Studios event happening this weekend in Gloucester.  If you're going to be in that area you might want to check out the Cape Ann Artisans 31st spring open studio tour:

More information about this event on the Cape Ann Artisans website here.

What's going on in Maryann Gallaher's studio

I recently rented a studio in a old converted fabric mill in Pawtucket, RI, about 25 minutes from my home in MA. I am moved in and now setting up and organizing my space. It is 770 sq ft and has 20 foot ceilings and huge windows facing north. I am more than halfway through unpacking but there is still a lot to do. It will be a wet / dry studio with a sewing space and a space for dyeing and surface design. My favorite buy is an 11ft stainless steel sink for $100 on craigslist. Having a studio outside my home is a new adventure for me!
