News from Barbara Dierolf: Westalee Template Quilting Made Easy

News from Barbara Dierolf:
I will be teaching a Westalee Template Quilting Made Easy event on June 7th and 8th for Murray’s Sewing Fabrics on the Cape in Orleans, MA. Pre-registration is required.
There may still be space available if you are interested. Sign up through the store (508) 255-0653. If you tend to send your quilts out to be quilted, ruler template quilting is a great way for you to quilt your piece using your own quilting voice without relying on a longarmer. This method is easy to learn and very accurate while allowing you freedom to create your own original designs.

News from Allison Wilbur: Machine Quilting Retreat

Machine Quilting Retreat with Allison Wilbur

August 16 - 18
Allison Wilbur Quilts and Meraki Stitch Studio
30 Cutler Street, Studio 101A & B, Warren RI

Take your machine quilting to the next level! This three day retreat will give you the skills, techniques and design ideas to confidently quilt complex motifs on your home sewing machine. Learn to respond to tension problems under the guidance of an experienced teacher. Topics include materials (thread, batting, needles), machine set up, walking foot designs, meandering variations, feathers, machine trapunto, continuous curves, micro fill and design elements. Slide shows, videos and on-machine exercises help teach concepts in a variety of ways to solidify your understanding.

Allison’s approach to quilting is based on the belief that quilting is half the creative processor making a quilt.  As a machine quilting teacher, longarm quilter, pattern designer, and art quilter, Allison helps quilters build a quilting “vocabulary” of designs and motifs that fit into a variety of quilts. To sign up or for more info, contact Allison Wilbur at allisonquilt@me.com. $285 fee includes 15 hours of instruction and 3 meals (Friday night dinner, lunch Saturday and Sunday). Fri, Aug 16 5:30 - 8:30, Sat & Sun, Aug 17 & 18, 9:00 - 5:00

Great American Road Trip
Opening Reception July 11, 2019
Amherst Town Hall
4 Boltwood Ave, Amherst, Massachusetts 01002

"Please join me at the Amherst town hall for the opening of my art exhibit during the Thursday Art Walk.
"The Great American Road Trip" series features art pieces colorfully depicting vintage cars and trucks “traveling” all over the United States.
The inspiration behind the show is my experience as a mother of young children, feeling trapped at times, lacking the freedom to go where-ever, when-ever! I chose to feature vehicles because the car is a symbol of total freedom. You can jump in and go anywhere at a moment’s notice. The nostalgia of the antique vehicles from 1940-1970 is an important aspect of my work. The intention is to evoke a sense of “the good old days”. Conveying the idea of being young and free and perhaps of “simpler” times. "
