 "Adding Wood to The Fire,

 A Quiltmaker's Way"

With candid writing, and over sixty pages of rich color illustrations, author Kathy Ford offers an inspiring account of how art and life come together to be seen. Part tale of artist finding voice, of quiltmaking process, and of awakening, the heart of this book is a story of creative spirit. (press release)

"Adding Wood to the Fire, A Quiltmaker’s Way celebrates the creative spirit and puts into words what quilters know intuitively. Being committed to an artistic practice is a way of life and a metaphor for life. The book perfectly captures the connections between life choices and artistic choices. By artfully stitching together personal history with the making of quilts, the book illustrates how enriching and cathartic the creative process can be. Pushing boundaries, taking risks, letting go – all are themes that surface in both quilts and in life. By piecing together her life experiences and her quilts in this memoir, Kathy has given more meaning to both.”
      - Donna Lamb, Executive Director, Schweinfurth Art Center and Quilting by the Lake

Kathy's studio is in Worthington MA, and she will participate in the Hilltown Open Studio Tour again this June.  Her quilts have been selected for QuiltsArtQuilts for the past 3 years and for Quilt National 2019. Her website is www.kathyford.net

Meet MaryJane Millington

Meet MaryJane Millington

I’m MJ Millington, a Stratford, Connecticut-based poet and artist. As a poet I translate the world of the senses—including the visual—into the written word. As an artist working in textiles, photography and book arts, I like to play with the structures and forms of poetry to create works of visual art. My current work is a series of conceptual quilts exploring poetry in textile form, entitled Verse Forms. I’ve exhibited nationally, and my work is in the collections of the Beinecke Library at Yale University, as well as private collections in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, California and New York. In 2018 I was an artist in residence at Trail Wood, in Hampton, CT. www.mjmillington.com".

I'm currently exhibiting my art quilts in the following venues:
  • The Edwin Way Teale Artists-in-Residence at Trail Wood Exhibit. Connecticut Audubon Center. Pomfret, CT
  • The Arts at Yale Health Inaugural Exhibition. Yale University. New Haven, CT
